Inclusion Quality Mark

We were first awarded the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) in June 2007. Since then we have maintained our commitment to being an inclusive school.

Below are some quotes taken from the latest IQM assessment that took place in June 2016.

“Whitley Lodge First School aims to provide a creative, exciting and inclusive learning environment for all.”

“Behaviour of pupils was observed to be exceptional, both inside and outside the classroom.”

“Classrooms throughout the school have a purposeful and calm climate, maximising learning potential.”

“Children are enabled, valued and listened to at Whitley Lodge First School."

We retained our IQM status after this assessment, and the summary written by the assessor included the following comments and recommendation:

“Learners at Whitley Lodge First School are a credit to their parents, carers and teachers.”

“The school creates an inclusive ethos from clear aims that are shared by all stakeholders through sharing of policy, best practise and setting high expectations for all.”

“The school prides itself on its inclusive education....”

“I am of the opinion that the school fully meets the standard required by the Inclusion Quality Mark.”

“I also recommend that the school be awarded Centre of Excellence status subject to the inclusion within its plans of the appropriate areas for development and the completion of the Centre of Excellence documentation.”

Whitley Lodge achieved the IQM “Centre of Excellence” status in October 2016.
